AMKENI Africa exists to awake and transform lives and African communities through holistic proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Overview
Amkeni Africa began with a holistic approach to Evangelism and proclamation of the Gospel. We share the Gospel with acts of compassion and evangelism. Our agenda is to see lives transformed through meeting basic needs, to give hope for the future for those living in poverty in the DR Congo, and to share the freedom and hope found in Christ. Wars and mass killings as well as lack of opportunities have sustained a circle of poverty from generation to generation in the Congo – our orphan care and educational sponsorship program will break the cycles of poverty. With a Community College education, or a vocational equivalent, children in DR Congo have hope for the future.
Our Core-values
Christ-Centered : We will strive to glorify and exalt Christ in our being and doing.
Prayer : We strongly believe in the power of prayer (Philippians 4:6)
Servant Leadership : We are called to serve and not to be served. (Mark 10:45).
Integrity in Stewardship : We will be faithful in our stewardship of the people, talents, gifts, and resources that God entrusts us with. (Luke 16:10, Proverbs 10:9).
Excellence : (Colossians 3:23).
Team Work and delegation : (Romans 12:4-8).
Ophran care and child sponsorchip
Sponsorship is at the heart of Amkeni Africa. Today, over 120 children are sponsored and taken care of in our orphanage in Goma DRC and over 150 are profiled and waiting for sponsorship. By sponsoring a child, you help to break the cycle of poverty in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Youfree a child from the bondage and cycle of poverty and give the child freedom to dream.
Our goal and prayer is that in addition to education, each sponsored child should receive a school uniform, educational materials and basic medical assistance. Children also attend a weekly discipleship meeting and a five-day Bible camp each year. 90% of child sponsorship funds directly help your sponsored child in DR Congo.
Amkeni Africa values your relationship with your sponsored child. Your relationship as a sponsor is critical in your sponsored child’s life. As a sponsor, you are family. The children love you, pray for you and know you by name!

Community transformation
- Micro-credit programs for women: Our micro-credit program groups are called AMKENI AFRICA TUINUANE. TUINUANE is a Kiswahili word which means “let us join hands together and uplift one another”. These groups are aimed at freeing women from the bondage and cycle of poverty. We train women on Biblical stewardship, saving, and small business entrepreneurship. After the training and assessment women are empowered and given an opportunity to make an income for their families and become productive members of their communities. Today, over 50 women have been empowered and are leading small but productive businesses and more importantly they are being discipled and mentored to grow their faith in Christ. You can partner with us to free and liberate more women from the bondage of poverty in Jesus Name.
Sowing training and other marketable skills.
Amkeni Family Center offers a one-year vocational training program that provides employable skills all infused with Christian discipleship. Today, 50 women and their young children have been moved toward a better life.
The goal of Amkeni Family Center is to feed the mind, spirit and hope. Our training programs offer these vulnerable women the opportunity to learn sewing or cosmetology, marketable skills offering a future of employment and the chance to escape poverty.
While a marketable skill is the first priority of the vocational programs, women rising out of challenging life situations need more than just that. They and their children need hope. Discipleship, prayer, and weekly devotions are an ongoing part of the programs and this emphasis on faith and Christian principles results in many women giving their lives to Christ each year and experiencing a hope for the future that may once have been unimaginable.
Graduates of Amkeni Africa’s vocational training program includes several women who have started their own independent businesses in Goma, and many others who are employed throughout Goma city and communities.
